On February 21-23, 2025, Cuttington University Alumni Association (CUAA) in collaboration with the Administration of Cuttington University celebrated one of the most memorable Homecoming/Founder’s Day events in recent history. The theme for the Homecoming/Founder’s Day was: Making CU Visible through Innovation. As stated, this year’s Homecoming/Founder’s Day celebration stood out form the rest as CUAA implemented an aggressive fundraising campaign to modernize the Rally Hall Dormitory, a very important student's hostel for female students on campus.
The weekend celebration was swamped by multitude of events: a parade, indoor program, campus tour, fundraising, musical interlude, bond fire, Sunday Mass, and a trip to the famous Kpatawee Waterfall. During the campus tour, Alumni were shown around the campus to acquaint them with challenges, as well as showcase numerous developments undertaken by the Administration.
According to the CUAA President, Ms. Mydea White-Simmons, the purpose for celebrating the Homecoming/Founder’s Day event this year was to start an important fundraising campaign in order to remodel the Rally Hall Dormitories. She noted that the CUAA is concerned about meeting the needs of the current students by modernizing the dorms, as well as meeting the basic necessities to enhance academic excellence that would result into attracting more students to the University. When these facilities are upgraded to contemporary status, it is hope that most commuting students would take up residence on the campus instead of being in local communities around the University. The CUAA leadership pointed out the growing need to widen alumni engagement that would result into growth and development of the University.
The Homecoming/Founder’s Day Celebration not only strengthened the bonds between the Alumni and the Administration, but it also reinforced their commitment to supporting Cuttington University's strategic initiatives to Grow CU, to Light CU, and to Feed CU.
This was the first time that both Founder’s Day and Homecoming events were celebrated jointly.
