Rally Hall is a woman’s dormitory situated on the Suakoko Campus. The building was built in 1975 with funds donated by the late President William R. Tolbert Jr. with President Tolbert’s National Fund Raising Rally. Rally Hall was built to accompany more than 100 females at any given time.
Sadly, on the afternoon of Thursday, February 27, 2025, fire gutted Rally Hall burning half of the Upper Rally potion of the building, leaving the entire CU community in total shock and disbelieve. The University staff led by the President, Dr. Horton, students, community dwellers, and others did everything necessary to extinguish the fire, but to no avail. The building roof was affected the most, including the newly installed solar system.

In spite of the disaster, the good news is no injuries or fatalities resulted from the incident. The University Administration swiftly put out a press release reassuring students, parents, and stakeholders that the well-being of students remains our top priority. Additionally, to ensure minimal disruption to the academic and residential experience, the Administration proactively provided all necessary support.
An exhaustive investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. In addition to the investigation, Cuttington University has strengthen its fire safety measure across campus: a comprehensive review of all dormitory facilities, reinforcement of fire prevention protocols, and additional safety training for students and staff to mitigate future risks.
The Administration has also made strategic investments in upgrading and solarizing dormitory facilities to ensure reliable housing options for students. As one of Liberia’s leading institutions of higher learning, Cuttington University is committed to maintaining a supportive, safe, and conducive learning environment.
We are calling on the Government, Organizations, Individuals, Friends of Cuttington, and the Alumni Association to help us rebuild Rally Hall. We as an Administration are resolved to continue fostering a resilient and thriving academic community.
